“A child seldom needs a good talking to,
as a good listening to”
Robert Brault
Child Therapy
I work with children who have school or social difficulties, aggression, shyness, depression, or anxiety. These are often the result of the tension of daily living and a child’s attempt to cope with the complex issues of family, school, and the competitive and fast-moving society we live in today.
We adults find a good friend, relative or a professional to talk to. A child’s mode of expression is not verbal, but through play.
Play therapy focuses on children’s need to express themselves with a therapist trained to understand and interpret their play. Materials are chosen for their imaginative and creative potential, creating a rich and interesting environment.
I meet with parents on a regular basis to provide support, education, and encouragement. When necessary, I also liaise with the school and consult with other professionals regarding evaluation, testing or medical issues.
Through a supportive and friendly relationship, based on individual attention on a one-to-one basis, your child is encouraged to express his/her concerns and come to terms with emotional difficulties. By observing and interacting with your child’s play, I help her/him make a smoother transition through the stages of growth and development. This leads to a higher level of self-esteem and achievement, and greater enjoyment of life.
AND PARENTING BECOMES EASIER!
